Meet the contributors to our class blog:

Andrew Zayas

Hey there, I’m Andrew, I am a 17 year old high school senior. A little bit about myself, future soldier, determined, I talk a lot of smack but at the end of the day I just want to help. I’m my family’s handyman, nurse, delivery boy, forklift, and psychiatrist. I’m a volunteer fireman. I put the needs of others before my own.

Avery Semkow

Hi! My name is Avery Semkow and I am a senior at Northern Highlands. I’m an average 17 year old girl who is determined, strong, and doesn’t let anything stand in my way.  I started my childhood in a small town Rye, NY in Westchester county. At the age of six, I moved to an even smaller town named Upper Saddle River, and I’ve lived here since. I have three older siblings who are all super intelligent. I proudly committed to my dream school Quinnipiac University and I’m going to pursue their Diagnostic Sonography major. The best part of any day is being able to spend time with friends and family. I am also an Emergency Medical Responder, and absolutely love it!

Ben Tyler

Hi. My name is Ben Tyler, I am a senior at Northern Highlands Regional High School, I graduated from Ho-Ho-Kus Public School. I am originally from Monmouth county but I moved here a while ago. I have almost no idea what I want to do after I graduate high school, I am probably going to college but I also have a few other ideas. I enjoy eating many different types of food and I also enjoy spending time with my friends. I also enjoy playing games and very occasionally I will read the occasional book. I work at a pharmacy and sometimes I even work for my dad.

Brian Sayre

Hi! I’m Brian Sayre. I’m 17 years old, a senior at Northern Highlands, and live in Allendale, New Jersey. I’m a member of the golf team at Northern Highlands and when I’m not playing golf, you can find me playing pretty much all sports with my friends. Other than that, I love to hang out with my friends and family, go out to eat, and watch sports. I’m an avid Boston sports fan, but PLEASE don’t let that stop you from reading my blog posts!

Claire Blass

Hi! I’m Claire Blass. I am the average 18 year old girl who works, plays volleyball, goes to school, and loves a good social life. The only thing that makes me very different from most girls my age is that I have moved nine times. I don’t see that as a negative, but more of what made me the strong, independent person I am today. Lastly, the one thing everyone knows about me is I am the biggest New York Giants fan in the world, and especially out of all the 18 year old girls.

Griffen Klauser

Hey! My name is Griffen Klauser but most people just call me Griff. I am 18 years old and I go to Northern Highlands Regional High school, and I play football. I love spending time with my friends on the weekends and on most days you can find me in the gym playing basketball. I’m not your prototypical blogger since I pretty much just started this year for my English class, so please excuse any rookie mistakes. Come on an adventure with me, read my stuff and let me know just how awful my writing really is.

John Miele

I’m John Miele an 18 year old senior at Northern Highlands Regional High School. I was born at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan and lived in the Bronx until I was four. When I was four my family moved to Ho-Ho-Kus and that’s where I’ve been ever since. I have two siblings including a fraternal twin brother and a younger sister.  I play football at Northern Highlands and have been on the varsity team for two years and plan on continuing my football career on the Division III level next year. I hope you enjoy reading my blog and following my journey through my senior year of high school.

Maeson Nolan

Hi I am Maeson Nolan and I am currently a senior at Northern Highlands Regional High School. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, playing with my dogs, or spending time with family. I also play field hockey on my high school team and on club teams. A fun fact about myself is that over the summer I went to Fiji for a whole month. There I immersed myself in the culture by volunteering in schools and in villages. In the future, I plan on majoring in chemical engineering due to the fact that I have a strong interest toward math, science, and engineering. My goal by the end of this course is for my writing and reading skills to improve to make me more prepared for college.

Hey! My name is Nicole Kudelka I am a senior at northern highlands. I’m a typical 17 year old who works, and enjoying hanging out with friends. My passion lies in mediation, and ways to improve myself, hence why my blog name is called the mediation blog. I hope you can join me on my adventures in class! I can also roll a mean burrito.

Nick Frasco

My name is Nicolo Frasco and I am a 17 year old senior at Northern Highlands (NJ). I have lived in the small town of Allendale for my entire life. When I’m not running track or doing homework, I’m probably enjoying the company of my friends and family. I run both indoor and outdoor track, the 400 meter being my specialty race. My 2 favorite places to eat are Chic-fil-a and Chipotle. I hope you come join me on this literal & figurative journey.

Noah Slakter

I’m Noah Dlakter and fried chicken ain’t too shabby, eh? I’m 17, from Northern New Jersey and relatively outgoing. I like to wake up every morning. I go to school 5 days a week unless there is some special holiday or I’m home sick; the other two days of the week I’m usually either eating obscure international foods with my friends or spending time with my family. Something about me that goes unnoticed is my passion for weird sports and spontaneous activities. That was vague, but please try to enjoy my blog posts.

Samantha Bernstein

Hi! My name is Sam. I am a senior at Northern Highlands. You can catch me singing, dancing, or trying to learn different musical instruments. I work in a coffee shop and do most of my best thinking with a mug in my hand. I am outgoing and love meeting new people but I cherish my alone time. I love to do yoga and practice meditation. I am always in the mood to try new things. Also sushi, all the sushi.

Skylar Giarusso

Hi! My name is Skylar Giarusso and I am a senior at Northern Highlands. I have lived in a small town in Northern New Jersey all my life with my family. I have only one sibling, Will, who’s 20 years old. I love fashion, exercising, makeup, and spending time with my friends and family! I am the stereotypical Italian girl with a huge family consisting of about 30 cousins and counting. Sports have never really been an interest of mine, but working with children has been my passion. This year in English, we are getting out of our comfort zones regarding reading and writing on a more personal level. Here is my personal page where you can be updated on what we are up to in class! Enjoy!

Thomas Hamrah

Whats up i’m Thomas and I am a senior at Northern Highlands Regional High School. I have lived in the same house my entire life on a quiet street near the New York-New Jersey Border in a boring town called Upper Saddle River. I love to play football and I Wrestle. When I am not playing sports you can either find me at the lake fishing or hanging out with my friends. I have a family of five with two loving parents, an older Sister named Carly, and younger brother named Matt. I am new to the blogging scene, so be nice:)

Tori Murry

I’m Tori Murry.  Many of my friends know me for sporadically bursting into song because it relieves my stress and frees my mind for a moment. I also love writing, whether it is poems, short stories, narratives, and especially songs. I also love analyzing and studying people. The one rule I always follow is not to assume anything about anyone until I have actually spoke to them on a less formal level. I love that there are so many layers to a person, physically and emotionally, and I live for the human interactions I encounter on a day to day basis. Last, but not least, I have three siblings that I love to death. I cherish my family more than anyone else in this world because the amount of love they project out to me is unreal.
